The sharing session "The Mystery of Pearls" was led by Ms. Au Ying Wai, Senior Gemologist (Pearls) at the GIA Hong Kong Laboratory. She provided an in-depth analysis of the formation differences and identification key points between natural and cultured pearls, systematically introducing the characteristics of major pearl varieties such as South Sea pearls, Tahitian pearls, Akoya pearls, and freshwater pearls. The lecture focused on explaining GIA’s unique Seven Pearl Value Factors system and demonstrated how to scientifically assess pearl value using GIA pearl reports, offering practical guidance for collection, investment, and daily wear.
